Gin, cheddar and butter: what we buy for our family

6157169888_d877ca4d2c_b.jpgMy friend Liz was in town this weekend and we talked about what we always stock up on when we know our parents are coming over. For me, it's Bombay Sapphire gin for my mom and beer or Tito's vodka for my dad. They will protest this makes them sound like lushes but the fact of the matter is that they will tolerate basically any sort of situation as long as they have their preferred cocktail in hand. For Liz, if she knows her father is coming over, she goes out and stocks up on red Gatorade and Mounds bars (I wonder if there is anybody else on the planet who likes both those things.) I asked a few other people what they make sure they have in the fridge (or bar) when they know their family is coming over.

Cold beer or diet pop for my dad.

Bays English muffins, eggs, sausage or bacon, great coffee, and some sort of sweet treat.
-Katie

  • 1% milk (they turn their noses up at skim)

  • Sweet'N Low
  • Diet Coke
  • Cream of Wheat
  • English muffins

(Can you tell that my parents are health nuts?)

Sharp cheddar. The cheese situation in Florida is apparently poor.
