I knew it was inevitable because he's so good-looking but it's finally come true: my child is a male model. Let me back up: my friend Wendy, who works for a children's publisher, gave us a lovely picture book called A Kiss Means I Love You from her company after Paul was born and it became a hit at our house. Paul loved the photos of the kids and the ways he could demonstrate the actions in the book; we loved that it was simple and sweet and short. Knowing that we were fans, and of course that he is superlatively handsome, Wendy asked if we'd be interested in letting Paul model for the authors' next project, a similar book where kids demonstrate various actions. So if you buy Show Me Happy, you'll have another sweet book on your hands plus a very attractive example of a little boy putting something away. Karl Lagerfeld's private jet, here we come!
Speaking of Paul, I have two new pieces up on Mom.me. One is about Paul moving on from daycare and what a bittersweet milestone that will be for us, and the other is on why so many women go the martyr route (and why they shouldn't.)
Finally, my husband Steve made a beautiful new video for Coudal Partners about their beautiful new Two Rivers edition of Field Notes. Check it out--it's really cool:
