Here were two pieces I published that I felt were decent snapshots of the week, which was heartbreaking for me, triumphant for others.
So, how was your marriage on election night? I discovered that a lot of Democrat/liberal women quarreled with their male partners on election night. It was weirdly soothing to realize how common this was, and also to just think about love and comfort during a tough time.
7 moms talk about turning boys into good men. I started this before the election, assuming that it was going to be a woman's America when it was published. I was incorrect. But I do think speaking to strong women about the effort of forming good men is possibly even more relevant than had the election outcome been what I'd expected/hoped.

As a child, a fifth grader, I think, our teacher, Sister Mary Magdala, told us that we girls that boys do what we want them to do, so to set a good example. I think it has always been up to us women to form good men. There's that saying that behind every great man is a good woman. Such sayings tend to be truthful, I think.
