List: Two ways you can support a good cause while I get all sweaty

9058222397_291e951d20_z.jpgI'm raising money for two good causes in October via two different races. I didn't want to send two emails around to my friends asking them to pony up twice, nor did I want to decide which of these two causes is more worthy. So, here's the info for both, in case you are feeling flush or generous or guilty or what have you and want to kick in a few bucks to either race.

1. If you believe in kids:

On October 6, I'm running the The University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital RBC Race for the Kids. Contributions from this race fund research by some of the most talented physicians in the country, which helps provide the best possible care for some of Hyde Park's youngest patients.  This race is important to me both because the University of Chicago is my employer, but also because last year our baby son had to spend some time in a pediatric hospital and I saw firsthand how important it is for children's hospitals to be well-funded. I am trying to raise $300 for the hospital and its research. If you'd like to help me meet that goal, please go here.

2. If you believe in art:

On October 20th, Steve and I are running the Monster Dash (he the 5K, me the 10K) on behalf of Green Star Movement, which inspires students and community members to design and realize public art. We believe in Green Star because their public art has improved Edgewater, our neighborhood, we and hope to support them as they continue to work around the city of Chicago. If you'd like to help us meet our goal of $100, please go here.

Thanks very much for donating or thinking of donating or just for reading! Running is extra-meaningful when you're being supported by people who've got your back as you try to help a good cause.
