Noteworthy Saint Feast Days in October
October 4: The Feast of Saint Greg of Milwaukee
French Fry Lover, 1226
Patron of business cards, prescription bottle makers (emblem: riding a unicycle)
St. Greg is not a widely-known saint, but for his select believers, he is still not that popular. The son of a travelling salesman, Greg was, in his youth, lazy and unintelligent and unfortunately after a revelation from St. Xavier became only more so. It is unsure how he was even canonized: many believe it was just a mistake.
October 10: The Feast of St. Dereon of Somewhere in Germany
Hip hop fashion designer, 287
Invoked against cellulite (emblems: faux fur and steak knife)
St. Dereon was praised by Carmelite nuns in the third century for designing comfortable yet provocative habits. Dereon was then beheaded by haters.
October 15: The Feast of St. Sonny
Manager of an outpost of a major breakfast restaurant chain, 6th century
Patron of Gary, IN (emblem: tupperware)
In the year 581, St. Justus, bishop of Lyons, fled France (then known as Gaul) for Egypt, where he became a desert monk, frequently fantasizing about pancakes. His deacon, Sonny, made him a plate of blueberry pancakes which did not taste very good since pancakes had not yet been invented. It is unclear what any of this has to do with Indiana.
October 19: The Feast of St. Bertha
Not-bad-looking nun, 735
Patron saint of receptionists at dental offices. (emblem: a scowl)
The fairly attractive daughter of an African king in a city of otherwise fuggos, Bertha delighted in spurning any males who made advances towards her. She was drawn and quartered at age 21 for being an insufferable tease.
