Whether it's appropriate is not the question. The question is whether it will be successful. If you're looking for a long-term relationship the answer is no. I could elaborate with all the sociological, psychological, anthropological, historical, intuitive, interpersonal and hunch-filled reasons and biases for my response, but those same things tell me that you're going to do what you want to do anyway. I'd advise you not to do it. You'll always be picking up the slack.
