Today is the day to forget important things.
What's something that you used to do all the time as a kid and suddenly stopped? You have still over a week to submit your little story of looking back, fondly or not.My Dad takes charge of my website and reminisces and you should do the same, so drop me an email with your paragraph.
Guest-Editor, Steve Delahoyde, Screws Everything Up
It's true. I have already damaged my reputation as guest-editor of this esteemed blog by forgetting to guest-edit this esteemed blog. Claire had told me, "It's easy. You just write something at night, or first thing in the morning, and then post it." I agreed that this sounded easy enough and that I was completely capable of such a task. But I've already failed. And now everyone who has this site bookmarked, who looks at it first thing in the morning, has seen it un-updated, and has moved on to sites with regular editors who are doing their job with gusto, or sites with guest-editors who have the wherewithal and sense of duty to do the job they were handed. Perhaps people are even erasing this site from memory now, or at least from their "Fav Sites!" folder because of me. Claire will return from her trip, still assuming she is awash in internet-celebrity, only to find people who ask, "Zulkey who?" It is all my fault. And to you, dear reader, dear Zulkey, dear everyone else, that I apologize. I will try harder tomorrow.
The irony, of course, is that my intention was to take this week and make rants about how I was finally going to clean-up Zulkey.com and zip up the content. As structure, I was going to mock Claire and this long-running, long-favorite site, and hopefully, along the way, get many, many laughs. Now that's dead. I've failed myself, and right out of the gate. So now I must think of some new and exciting angle, which is not an easy task for me, a man of limited intelligence, writing ability, and awe-inspiring lack of wit.
So while you, the reader, decide the fate of myself and this site, I begin my thinking. Return tomorrow (by noon should be safe), and see what I've come up with. A chance at redemption? More of the same drivel? It'll be a crap shoot. But, boy howdy! What a ride it'll be!
