One more time...
If you live in Chicago, and want to help me out and haven't bought my book yet, please stop by Women and Children First.
The information about my DC reading this Friday is here. New and improved flier!
Read this story and submit your own! Tomorrow is your deadline and did I mention that there will be a prize? A prize!
Finally, I'm going to see Kanye West tonight and I'm excited because I love College Dropout and, of course, proud that he's a Chicagoan. However, I'm slightly less enthused about the way he chooses to show his piety.
Ask Dear Zulk Another Question or Else This Column is Doomed
Dear Zulk,
Do you ever find yourself infatuated with any of your favorite male authors
that you've interviewed? Or is that just a creepy thing, being infatuated
with men whose work you admire, or men who you find intelligent because of
their life experience or their intelligence or wit, even though you don't
really know them at all. Maybe it's only me. Maybe I need help. Can I change
my question? Do I need counseling?
I haven't really had crushes on any of the men I've interviewed thus far, except for the obligatory blah blah when I've interviewed boyfriends. (I love you! Smooch smooch.) While I've been excited to talk to some of them, mostly I've just been happy or nervous. I hate to disappoint my literary nerd fans but I don't really have crushes on authors.
Rock stars, yes. Anybody who knows me well is aware of my longstanding crush on Elvis Costello. After meeting him a few years ago and blubbering something to him (I don't really remember what), it was the happiest day of my life to date, and I'm even counting First Reconciliation.
I will also have crushes on the occasional baseball player.
Oh, Happy Cinco de Mayo, by the way, to all you white people out there looking for yet another excuse to drink and eat guacamole.
