The JC's Girls Girls Girls Interview

Today is the day to pass the deadline.

Funny Ha-Ha is coming to the MCA in 4 days!

Last week, my interview focused on Chicago architecture; this week, on Christians and the adult industry. My friend Rob Theakston pointed this site out to me. JC's Girls Girls Girls describes itself as "a Biblically based Christian ministry that seeks to share God's message of hope and forgiveness by reaching out in a non-judgmental way to those who are in the sex industry. We pattern our ministry after the very ministry of Jesus by actually going to the people who need him." How could one not find this of interest (especially during the holiday--sorry--Christmas season?) I sent them some questions and received some answers from the lovely Heather, a former Vegas stripper. The timing is coincidental but I think it makes a fine Zulkey.com Christmas interview.

The JC's Girls Girls Girls Interview: Just Under Twenty Questions

Do you know of organizations similar to yours for other religions?
No

Have any famous porn stars approached you or begun attending church because of you?
No, just very cool stripper girls.

What has been the reaction/reception from the sex industry to your movement thus far?
Mostly positive

Have you guys gotten many converts so far? A much harder line of Christianity is prevalent lately it seems (through the Christian right), but " To think that God looks more favorably on any individual because they are "only" slandering their neighbor with gossip instead of taking their clothes off for money is simply not scriptural," can be pretty appealing to others.

We do have girls attending churches and we feel that slandering or gossip is equal to any other sin one might commit.

Are you guys actively trying to convince women to leave the adult industry, or is it more about helping them find faith?
Definitely helping them to find faith.

Have you had many guys contact you pretending to be interested in your message but only trying to get in touch with the girls?
Of course.

Have you heard from many members of the Christian right? Are they supportive of what you do?
Some are and some aren't.

What did the name "Matthew's House" come from?

That Jesus went to Matthew's house, who was a tax collector, where he reached out to prostitutes.

Do you reference Mary Magdalene very much when you talk to female porn stars/ strippers?
Not really.

What's the general reaction you get at sex conventions? Lots of horny guys following us around.

Do you encounter many people who disagree with you from the other side, i.e. who feel you are preachy? How do you handle that?
If people disagree with us, we are okay with that. We can't make everybody happy.

Do you feel there are ways for people to appreciate and enjoy and participate in the sex industry, and be moral and even church-going?
Whether moral or immoral, a person can seek a relationship with Christ.

Do you think those who use porn/go to strip clubs are sinners?
Everyone is a sinner.

Why did you choose to focus on reaching out to those in the adult industry, as opposed to people in prison, people in poor states, etc?
Because I've been there and nobody else cared to.

I saw you answer this question on the site but one more time: the photos of you guys on the site at first glance do sort of look adult (minus the nudity.)
Are you playing up the same image of women in the adult industry, you feel? We are showing that you can be attractive and Christian.

I read this quote from one of your weekly pinups: "…take responsibility for talking about why God wants us to have AMAZING SEX in the context of marriage rather than just saying 'don't do it!' outside of marriage." I remember learning at some point that Christian couples were only meant to have sex in order to procreate. Do you think they were incorrect, or are we just interpreting the Bible according to the way we want to live life?
Sex is a gift from God . The Bible clearly states that the man is not to deny his wife nor his wife deny her husband to avoid sexual temptation towards another.

Do you communicate with non-Christians? Do you focus on trying to convert them or just listening to your message?
Yes, we have lots of non-Christian friends like our documentary friend Bill Day.

How does it feel to be the 136th person interviewed for Zulkey.com?
Bad, because I took to long to answer it and now I'm probably 250th.
