In my dreams, I am a hostess who welcomes friends over nearly every day in the summer. We all sit in our "outdoor room," which is a pristine patio furnished with comfy, unmildewy furniture. It's lit by the setting sun and then gorgeous twinkling lights and elegant torches. A cheese plate is out that does not get sweaty and messy. There are no bugs. And, of course, there is a bottomless pitcher of a delicious summer drink that I whipped up with no effort and no mess. I drink a responsible amount of them, at a deliberate pace.

A lot of this is a fairy tale. But the drinks are a reality.
