Book By Its Cover Review: Short Pants in Winter
There are some styles going around right now that I don't really get. Chief among them right now are short pants in the cool months, which are usually to be accessorized with knee-high boots, or maybe just regular high heel shoes and a sweater.
Short pants in winter are not your typical shorts length. They're knee-length, or even a bit longer, and are intended to be worn then by the very thin and the very tall.
Even though the very thin and the very tall have a lot of things working for them, one of them is not the ability to convince me of wearing short pants in winter.
Do I really need to discuss my issue with short pants in fall and winter? It's cold. And if you argue that wearing boots with short pants in winter keeps you warm, then I say to you, "Aarr," because you look like a pirate and that's how pirates deserve to be spoken to.
I just don't get it. I'm not saying I condemn it, or you're stupid for doing it, but I have yet to see a woman wearing this winter shorts and say, "Wow, that looks good." If you can prove me wrong, please do.
Then again, those of you who have known me in real life for a long time know that when capri pants came back in style, I mocked them mercilessly. "Are you hot or are you cold?" I'd say. "Pick a length." The preferred length, myself, was long, as I don't wear shorts. Then, one day, on a whim or possibly under coercion, I tried on a pair of the short pants, and I was converted. That little tiny bit cut off makes such a difference.
So who knows. I could change my mind. But I probably won't.
