Book By Its Cover Review: Being Called Back on "Meet the Press" to Explain Yourself

You're the President of Jefferson Parish, you're upset about hurricane Katrina, you're invited on the show to discuss the situation, you cry like a little baby and you may have fudged some facts. So what? You're stressed, you're upset, things are crazy and you just melted down a little bit in front of the camera. That's nothing to get mad about.

Then everyone gets their panties in a bunch because you might have accidentally said that somebody died when they didn't. Again, why is this such a big deal? Isn't there other stuff going on? Do they think you did it on purpose? Nonetheless, they invite you back on the show.

This is your moment. What do you do? Do you clarify? Do you apologize? Hell no! You grow a beard, raise some Cajun hell and get even crazier! This is your moment!

And it's not enough to defend yourself. You have to threaten to kick ass. You have to say what exactly is disgusting (and it sure isn't you.)

I say this is a good move. You might not come off as the most dignified diplomat in the country, but your name is on people's tongues, whereas before they never knew who you were. Your area has been washed away by a flood, and if you can't get attention by being polite, then you might as well do it by being crazy. Go for it!
