Rooting for the Underdog

Today is the day to eat food that comes in a box.

Lindsay Roberts*n and I are improving your Internet life on Über.

I came to a realization lately: I always root for the underdog. Not just in everyday, cliche'd situations such as baseball games, movies or Presidential elections. But any time there is a group of people, I always like who is usually the least popular person. Cases in point:

Alvin and the Chipmunks: Simon
The Beatles: George
Beverly Hills, 90210: Andrea
*NSync: Chris Kirkpatrick
The Baby Sitter's Club: Mary Anne

Plus, whenever there's a movie about a roguish group of lads ("White Squall," "Memphis Belle," and so on) I fall not even for the guy who dies, it's the guy who gets sent home early. Perhaps the only exception was that I liked Kelly in "American Idol."

I won't be as self-pitying as to say that it's because I am the underdog, or my life has been full of unpopularity, nerdiness and sadness. Maybe it's because I want to be the cool person who likes somebody who isn't popular (the way music nerds stop liking a band when it gets famous.) Maybe it's because I'd read one too may stories about how the ugly ducklings (erroneously) are always the most beautiful inside.

Or maybe I'm just contrary.

I thought I had more to say on this matter, but I guess I don't. Don't worry, tomorrow's interview will be fun.
