Right now I'm working on the following stories:
- Harm reduction therapy, as it pertains to the opioid overdose crisis (IE taking steps to prevent the spread of HIV/overdoses in McDonanld's bathrooms rather than prior models of addressing the "war on drugs."
- Nuns and non-religious millennials getting together to share their visions of activism, spirituality and community
- Trauma informed care for pediatric victims of violence, IE a philosophy of "What happened to you?" rather than "What's wrong with you?" when treating kids from violent or disturbed backgrounds.
- How journalism professors are training and educating future reporters at a time when trust in the media is perilous at best.
These stories didn't seem related to me when they all came drifting down but I can't help but thinking about the other topics as I work on each one -- they are connected in various ways and make me feel hopeful that there are so many people out there trying to help others, trying to tell others' stories, working for justice.
