Weird little traditions

Today is the day to start a nasty rumor.

Somebody asked me last week why I put the words "Rabbit rabbit" in the little blue letters above on the first day of every month. This tradition actually came about in high school, where I heard that it's good luck if you say that to somebody on the first of the month before anybody else says it to them.

I also thought about some of the other odd traditions and superstitions that I picked up in high school (and earlier.) Touch the ceiling of the car as you go through a yellow light. Kiss the clock at 11:11 and make a wish. Hold your breath if you're driving past a cemetery. Punching at the sight of Volkswagon bugs. Saying "pediddle" at the sight of a car with one headlight. The importance of the Golden Birthday (For instance, since my birthday is April 15th, my 15th birthday was my Golden Birthday. I forgot what you get on your Golden Birthday, most likely just somebody saying "It's your Golden Birthday!")

Why did we do all this? I think because we had nothing better to do. High school is very overrated, remember?

What other weird traditions and superstitions did you grow up with? Do these vary from state to state, country to country? Write me and let me know what else you guys did for luck, to avoid the Boogeyman (not the movie), or to make wishes, I'm curious to know what other tics we've imposed upon ourselves. As usual, if we get some good ones, we'll run them next week or so.
